Dilute 1 cup of vinegar in 4 cup of water, soak a washcloth in the diluted vinegar and wipe the affected area thoroughly, three to four times a day. After you finish, dry the area thoroughly.

Washing the infected area with borax powder or chlorine bleach can also give relief. A hot salt bath in a bathtub for 10-15 minutes for two to three days can give considerable relief.

For more severe bacterial infection, doctors may prescribe a 14 day course of oral antibiotics like tetracycline (Sumycin), ciprofloxacin. cephalexin (Keflex), minocycline (Dynacin, Minocin), levofloxacin (Levaquin) or doxycyline, (Cipro, Cipro XR, Proquin XR).
