Using Aromatherapy for Allergies

Allergies, be it seasonal or not, are always annoying. And the saddest part is that there is no definite cure for it except trying to prevent it. But no matter how hard you try, at the end of the day, you end up suffering from one because it is not possible to avoid all the allergens. There are a number of medications available for immediate relief. However, for those who want a long lasting remedy, aromatherapy is the best way out. Most people consider this therapy as pampering the skin with an aromatic scent but it is much more than that. This therapy is one of the most effective ways of treating allergies. 

Using Aromatherapy for Allergies

The essential oils that are extracted from medicinal plants helps in the treatment of various symptoms as they appear. Some of the herbs have certain properties that help in building immunity and cater allergic reactions and its symptoms. But the most difficult part is to recognize whether you suffer from allergic reactions or not. This can be determined only through a skin test. Once it is determined, the overall treatment plan that helps you to calm and relax will be the best way of treatment. You can use ay of the essential oils but make sure that your body does not react to the oil. If any such things occur then immediately wash off. 

First of all try to get to the root cause of the allergic reaction then only will you be able to go for a long term treatment/ prevention program. Unless you know the root cause you will never prevent it for a longer period despite putting in all your efforts. Once you know what the cause is, you can start off with the task. 

Depending on the treatment plan and choose the essential oil. You can opt for chamomile or lavender extracts to help you relax and calm your mind. Add 4-5 drops of the essential oil into your bath and soak yourself for about 20 minutes. 

Or another way is to use a diffuser or humidifier to make your surrounding and atmosphere allergen free. Add a few drops of one of these essential oils that is the frankincense, clary sage, neroli, rose or chamomile in the water and let the humidifier blow. In order to relieve nasal congestion, which occurs more than often when one is suffering from hay fever, pine and Cyprus extract are a good remedy. Inhale by putting some drops of it in hot water.
